This space is dedicated to featuring some of our favourite up and coming designers. Every week we’ll be scouting some hidden talent and featuring them in an article. We aim to showcase their work and share a little about them as an artist.
If you’d like to take part in something similar, make sure to reach out to us via our Featured Artist page.
Meet artist of the week, Kate Marchenko
Self-taught artist and designer Kate Marchenko uses a unique, personalized art technique of embroidery on tulle fabrics. Based in Moscow, Kate takes on both elaborate patterns and portraits in 3D form.
She uses predominantly brightly coloured threads to create intricate embroidered images of a range of subject matter, including human portraits, animals and anatomical diagrams. Kate’s themes are inspired by high class fashion and haute couture.
Paying close attention to detail, colour composition and shading, Kate manages to create a heightened sense of dimension. Her work is often framed as thread paintings. In addition to being an incredibly talented creative, Kate Marchenko also offers online coursed for fellow creatives.
